They offer support to people affected by crime for as long as you need them. Their services are free, completely confidential and independent. You can also find out how you could help. Blantyre Community Committee in association with the National
Trust for Scotland (and David Livingstone Centre) presents
The Blantyre Summer GALA 2016
It's on Saturday 9th July at David Livingstone Centre Grounds Station Road
from 12.000 midday until 8.00pm !!
Commencing with the Summer colours parade at 11.15am meeting at the Sports Centre, a procession will walk down to the David Livingstone Centre Grounds, where a whole host of activities will be taking place throughout the day!
From late morning, the fairground will be there, inflatables, a stage with live music, A DJ, the beer tent, full summer outdoor market, children's sports day, crowning of the gala King and Queen, hot and cold food, face painting all in beautiful surroundings of the David Livingstone Centre, with access to the museum, toilets and gift shop.
Entry to the gala day will be FREE and they promise fun for all the family. This is Blantyre's largest event in the calendar, which brings together ALL the community.
LazyTown's Sportacus, Robbie Rotten, Stephanie & Ziggy return in their all-new concert show at Lanark Memorial Hall!
Currently on Channel 5, Milkshake, Cartoon Network and Boomerang, LazyTown is a hit all over again with a brand-new generation of boys and girls.
And, in this brand-new, stage show adventure, Robbie is at his rottenest worst while Sportacus has to be at his athletic, super-active best – running, jumping and flipping to save the day as he joins Stephanie in coaxing Ziggy to enjoy a more active lifestyle.
All the songs from the legendary TV show feature, including No One’s Lazy in LazyTown, Bing Bang and Never Say Never, as the benefits of “sports candy” are introduced in inspirational style.
From international producers of Ben 10 Live, Barney and Friends, Charlie and Lola and Smurfs Live On Stage, meet your favourite LazyTown characters and learn how to be a real super hero.
Lanark Memorial Hall 9th July 2pm
Live at Livvies is Blantyre's very own Summer Music Festival
A fabulous line up of live music is planned on stage. The
professional run festival will be held on Sunday 10th July from 12
midday until 6pm, at the same venue as the gala day at David
Everybody welcome. Event will be licensed and will include a funfair, beer tent and brilliant sound system. After the bands, a fantastic dance DJ will end the massive party!
Summer festival fun will include adult and child face painting, hot and cold food, provided seats and tables, fun inflatables, water canons and more!
Toilet facilities will be available. Parking restrictions will apply and it is suggested people walk to the event or get dropped off in Station Road beforehand.
Search for missing bones, fossils and dinosaurs to complete the prehistoric trail at Calderglen Country Park!
Its on now and runs until 28 August. Maps are available from the gift shop and the cost £1:50 times are 10am - 4pm
SmashIntoSummer with Cumbernauld Theatre's Performing Arts Courses for children and young people.

This summer they celebrating the 100th birthday of Roald Dahl by
offering full-on arts experience for children and young people aged
Taking inspiration from Dahl’s quotes and characters, each Performance Academy will devise, rehearse and perform their own summer story at Cumbernauld Theatre, with in house technical support and access to the theatre’s costume and props stores.
Also brand new for Summer 2016! you can Join Dance Fusion Academy to experience dance and physical theatre colliding to create energetic and thought provoking tales where the movement tells the story. No dance experience required – let your imagination do the hard work!
Young people will have the opportunity to work alongside choreographers, specialist tutors, theatre makers and other young performers over the five day programme – participants should be committed to attending the full week, including the performance. By the end of the week, you will have created, rehearsed and performed a show of your very own for family and friends.

All Performance Academies cost £25 for the full week’s tuition. Tickets to the final performance cost £3 each.
Children can join Pro-Soccer East Kilbride for their Skills School Summer Camps during the holidays!

Pro-Soccer Skills School is a fun and innovative class designed to give children an enjoyable start to Soccer. The programme covers all aspects of the modern game including shooting, passing, dribbling, teamwork, and of course, skills! Developed coaches from many different football backgrounds, Pro-soccer believe that their blend of games, drills skills and fun is perfect to give that soccer mad youngster hours of great training to help them learn and improve their game.
The Biggar Agricultural Show 2016, is being held on the 23rd of July.

The show field will be bursting with Livestock, Poultry and
Equine Classes, Ladies Industrial Section, Craft Marquee, Highland
Dancing, Dog Show, Food Fair, Trade Stands, Fun Fair, Children's
Entertainment and main ring attractions!
Parking at the Showfield is also FREE and there is a FREE courtesy bus running out of Biggar High Street from 10am.
The annual East Kilbride Open Cattle Show takes place on July 30th.
Being held on the event fields at the National Museum of Rural
This event is organised and operated by the East Kilbride Open Cattle Show Society independent of the National Museum of Rural Life.
There is a wonderful variety of new things to see this year as well as all your old favourites.
Tractor Ted will be dropping by as he is on a Scottish Tour and will be arriving at the show with a lot of exciting things for the children to see and do. The Quack Commando’s Display team are attending. You can even bring the family pet dog to take part in the successful dog show.
