Last month the spotlight shone on Victim Support Scotland.   This month the torch is passed onto The Samaritans Of Lanarkshire. The Samaritans opened their first Scottish office in Edinburgh in 1959. Since then they have grown to 19 branches supported by over a thousand volunteers across the country. Day or night, a Samaritans volunteer is there to give support to anyone feeling down or struggling to cope. Their Lanarkshire branch is based in Hamilton and as always you can get all the information from the spotlight page


What's On For September

Fairhill fun day takes place on Saturday 10th September at Fairhill South Lanarkshire Lifestyles Centre between 12noon-4pm!
There will be lots of fun activities for all the family - details of which will be posted on their Facebook page nearer the time!

The 'doors are open' on production at New Lanark World Heritage Site for their ‘Doors Open’ weekend. Join their guides for a series of free, informative tours to discover our enterprising production at New Lanark, and find out more about the Double Row Restoration Project.

Two of the hottest tribute acts around descend on Airdrie Town Hall for an amazing double bill on the 11th September. Tickets are £15.00 and doors open 6.30pm

Rihanna Reloaded is the UK’s most accurate tribute to Rihanna, and Little Fix provide a superb show featuring the music of their idols ‘Little Mix’.

A host of top comedy stars join forces to raise a laugh and money for the 2016 STV Children’s Appeal.

Host Des Clarke will introduce the boys from Burnistoun, Jo Caulfield, Rob Deering, Dave Fulton, Gary Little, Des McLean and many more. It all takes place in the Town House Hamilton on 17th September at 7.30pm tickets cost £20

Also you can Join compere Billy Kirkwood as he introduces a madcap two hours of fun, frolics and dancing at the Town House, featuring special guests, as part of the HaHa Hamilton comedy Gala.

The ever popular Cumbernauld 10K celebrates it's 10th anniversary at Broadwood Stadium on the 18th of September!
First held to mark the 50th anniversary of Cumbernauld new town in 2007, the race is now a popular event on the athletics calendar with over 650 runners registered last year.
The Cumbernauld 10k is organised by the council and North Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, in partnership with NHS Lanarkshire, Campsies Centre Cumbernauld Ltd, Strathmore Spring Water and the Cumbernauld News and Kilsyth Chronicle

The first walking festival will show everyone the many opportunities for getting out and about in North Lanarkshire on your own or with a group. From easy strolls around parks to longer rambles through open countryside. All the walks are free but booking is essential.
The weekend will be packed full of exciting walks but keep checking back as new walks will be added as the time gets nearer.
